Cartier Watches

Cartier is a name synonymous with beauty and quality. The story of how Cartier watches came to be is an interesting one. Today, Cartier is a name that characterizes class and sophistication. For this reason, there are models that go for as much as $67,000. Not all watches are this expensive although most Cartier’s will have a hefty price tag. They didn’t start out quite this way, however.

Cartier watches began in 1847 when Louis-Francois Cartier took ownership of his master’s jewelry workshop at 29 Rue Montogueil in Paris. Later, in 1899 this address would change to 13 Rue de la Paix. This is the street known for grandeur and sumptuousness in Paris. These exquisite watches would grow a rich clientele and fan base all over the world.

In the early years of 1900, an aviator friend of the Cartier family complained about the methods of reading the time from a fob watch while flying. Cartier created a solution in a proto-type wristwatch. This was a common problem of aviators at the time. Cartier was promulgated by the Prince of Wales in 1902 as the Jeweler of Kings for King of Jewelers. Cartier used metals such as platinum, steel, titanium and colorful gold (yellow, white, pink) to create their watches and they still do this today.

Cartier creates watches of every size and design from the mini to the extra large, the round to square and more. They also have jewelry watches, quartz watches and mechanical watches in their lineup.
